Anthropic, the company that has created a stir in the global Artificial Intelligence (AI) sector, has announced that it is offering the facility of its highly discussed cybersecurity model, Mathos, to 150 organizations across 15 countries. A few Indian organizations are also included in this list. Anthropic has taken this step under ‘Project Glasswing’. Until now, the company had restricted the use of this widely discussed cybersecurity model.
The inclusion of India in this list is particularly significant, as all the countries included in the list are known to be close allies of the United States. According to Anthropic, Mathos has achieved such proficiency in detecting coding errors and vulnerabilities that it surpasses the capability of almost all human security researchers. It is worth mentioning that during its testing phase, this model had already detected vulnerabilities in several popular operating systems and browsers. Even before its commercial release, discussions have begun regarding the counter-activities (potential risks) of Mathos. British and American researchers had issued warnings that the model’s capability to detect vulnerabilities could be misused to launch cyberattacks.
Apart from India, the other countries that have received permission to use this model are the USA, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Sweden, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand.
