The visiting Pakistani team faced a complete whitewash after being defeated in both matches of the two-Test series against Bangladesh. Naturally, such a miserable performance by the Pakistani team has exposed the current state and downward trajectory of cricket standards in their country.
Concurrently, Bangladesh created history in their Test cricket journey by securing a clean sweep in a Test series against Pakistan for the second time. Bangladesh won the second Test match, held in Sylhet, by a margin of 78 runs.
Bangladesh’s victory was almost certain by the fourth day of the match. However, Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan and Sajid Khan stood as obstacles to this win. Rizwan continued his struggle even on the final day of the match, but once he was dismissed for an individual score of 94 runs, Pakistan’s chances of drawing the match came to an end. Chasing the target, Pakistan lost all their wickets in the second innings for 358 runs, losing the Test match by 78 runs.
In the second innings, Bangladesh’s Taijul Islam tore through the opposition, claiming 6 wickets. To recall the match progression, Bangladesh scored 278 runs in their first innings, while Pakistan replied with 232 runs. In the second innings, Bangladesh set a strong target by scoring 310 runs.
