Durga Puja celebrations and pre-festive preparations across Kolkata and several south Bengal districts are expected to experience scattered to moderate rainfall between Chaturthi and Saptami (October 15 to October 17), according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Officials at the Regional Meteorological Centre in Alipore noted that the localized showers are triggered by easterly wind currents and cyclonic circulation activity over the Bay of Bengal. While heavy downpours that could lead to severe urban waterlogging are largely ruled out, short, sharp bursts of rain could still cause brief disruptions for early pandal hoppers and artisans putting final touches on festive setups.

The meteorological office indicated that shower intensity is projected to taper off significantly as the festive days progress. From Ashtami onward, the monsoon is expected to withdraw from West Bengal, leading to primarily dry and pleasant weather conditions for peak celebrations through Nabami and Dashami. Organizers and visitors have been advised to keep umbrellas handy for the initial festive days, even as weather patterns stabilize for the climax of the festival.
