West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari strongly emphasized the concept of “triple-engine governance” on Monday while expressing supreme confidence in winning the upcoming Kolkata Municipal Corporation elections scheduled for November, following his inauguration of two restored and beautified water bodies named ‘Shiv and Sakti’ at Itkhola near Kudghat, a project funded by central allocations and executed by the KMC sewerage and drainage department since February 2025 at a cost of approximately ₹10 crore to provide local residents with renovated ghats for religious and cultural activities alongside walking pathways, during which Adhikari lauded the administrative efforts of cabinet ministers Agnimitra Paul and Tapas Roy as well as KMC administrator Smita Pandey while launching a scathing attack on previous Trinamool Congress and Left Front administrations for turning a blind eye to environmental degradation by allowing no fewer than 5,000 ponds and water bodies to vanish across the Behala-Joka belt and the Madhyamgram-Barasat zone, thereby positioning the current administration’s urban renewal initiatives as a vital turning point for Kolkata’s civic infrastructure and ecological preservation.
