Actor and former MP Nusrat Jahan appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at its CGO Complex office in Kolkata on Tuesday for questioning in connection with a multi-crore housing fraud case. The central agency is investigating allegations that a company Jahan was associated with as a director duped senior citizens by promising them affordable apartments in New Town. It is alleged that while several hundred people deposited significant sums of money, the flats were never delivered, and the funds were reportedly diverted to other purposes, including the personal use of the company’s directors.

During the session, which lasted several hours, investigators reportedly focused on financial transactions and the actor’s role within the firm during the period the alleged irregularities occurred. Jahan has previously denied any wrongdoing, stating that she had resigned from the company long ago and had even taken a loan from the firm which she repaid with interest. As the probe intensifies, the ED is examining bank statements and company records to trace the money trail, while political reactions continue to pour in regarding the high-profile summons in the heart of the city.
