India Storms into Thomas Cup Semifinals, Beats Chinese Taipei 3-0

By defeating Chinese Taipei, the Indian men’s team has entered the semi-finals of the Thomas Cup and ensured a medal. In the quarter-final held today, India emerged victorious with a 3-0 margin. In the first singles match, Lakshya Sen gave India a lead by defeating world number 14 player Chou Tien-chen in a hard-fought battle with a score of 18-21, 22-20, 21-17. The second match of the tie was an exciting doubles contest. In this match, the world-renowned pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty fought for 65 minutes to defeat Lee Yang and Wang Chi-lin with a score of 20-22, 19-21, 21-12. With this win, India’s entry into the semi-finals was confirmed. In the third game, HS Prannoy defeated world number 18 Wang Tzu-wei with a score of 21-16, 21-17. Along with this, India entered the semi-finals after a gap of four years. India had previously won the title in 2022.
