KKR’s Playoff Hopes Dim After RCB Loss, Varun’s Absence Hurts
Following their defeat yesterday against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL, Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) chances of entering the playoffs have become very slim. Varun Chakaravarthy was unable to play in yesterday’s match due to an injury.
KKR coach Abhishek Nayar admitted that the team felt the absence of the star spinner during the match. He also pointed out the team’s weak fielding performance. Abhishek stated: “If Varun had played, perhaps the outcome of the match would have been different. The team needed him in this game. The pitch didn’t offer much help for batting. On this pitch, the duo of Sunil Narine and Varun would have been dangerous. But unfortunately, we didn’t have Varun.”
In the match, Virat Kohli, who played a century innings, was given a “life” (dropped) when he was on an individual score of 21 runs.
