Visa Problems, South Africa Postpones Mexico Trip
The South African football team is in crisis on the eve of the World Cup. Due to visa complications, the World Cup-bound team’s departure has been postponed indefinitely. The team was scheduled to leave today via a chartered flight to join a training camp in Pachuca, Mexico; however, unfortunately, the trip was postponed as some of the players and supporting staff did not have visas.
Coach Hugo Broos expressed his frustration over such mismanagement ahead of a crucial tournament like the World Cup. South Africa’s Sports Minister, Gayton McKenzie, described the incident as extremely embarrassing and a gross injustice to the players. He has also assured that punitive action will be taken against those involved in the matter. South Africa is scheduled to play the opening match against the host nation in Mexico City on the night of June 11.
