During an election rally in Purba Medinipur, TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee issued a bold challenge to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, daring him to be present in Kolkata on May 4, the day of the West Bengal election results. Expressing absolute confidence in Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s return for a fourth consecutive term, Abhishek dismissed the BJP’s use of central agencies like the ED and CBI as futile attempts to intimidate the state. He framed the upcoming election as a definitive battle between “Delhi’s power” and the “people of Bengal,” asserting that the more the Trinamool Congress is targeted, the stronger it will emerge in the eyes of the voters.

Accusing the BJP of using threatening rhetoric and insulting Bengali identity, Abhishek warned that “accounts will be settled with interest” once the electoral process is complete. He urged the electorate to provide a fitting reply at the ballot box to those who have allegedly branded Bengalis as outsiders or targeted their cultural habits. Beyond the political sparring, he reiterated the party’s commitment to social welfare schemes like Lakshmir Bhandar, promising that these benefits would remain secure under TMC governance. As the state prepares for two-phase polling on April 23 and 29, Abhishek’s fiery stance underscores the intensifying rivalry ahead of the final verdict.
