Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shafali Verma Receive NADA Notices for Missed Dope Tests
Amidst the ongoing IPL, a sudden sensation has been created in Indian cricket. The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has issued notices to two Indian cricketers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shafali Verma, for violating rules related to dope testing. According to available information, both have been served a “First Missed Test” notice for the time being.
According to NADA sources, the cricketers were not present even after officials arrived for the scheduled dope test at the designated time. Consequently, allegations of violating “Whereabouts” rules have been raised against both. Both Yashasvi and Shafali are included in NADA’s ‘Registered Testing Pool’ (RTP). Players on this list must provide reports regarding their location, presence, and timing every three months. Additionally, they must declare a specific one-hour window every day so that Doping Control Officers (DCOs) can reach them for testing at any time.
According to sources, although officials were ready for the dope test at the scheduled time, the cricketers were not present. For this reason, allegations of “Whereabouts Failure” or violation of location rules have been leveled against them. According to NADA rules, if there are three “Whereabouts Failures” within 12 months, it can be considered an anti-doping rule violation. In such cases, the concerned player can face strict punishment, such as a maximum ban of up to two years.
However, since this is the first notice for Yashasvi and Shafali, no decision regarding a ban or temporary suspension has been taken yet. It is learned that notices have already been sent to the two cricketers seeking a clarification.
